At the beginning of the Cenozoic, the Artian civilization began. Over the next million years, their kind flourished all over the world. Their accumulated knowledge permitted them to learn of an upcoming extinction level event. Despite their advances in many sciences, they were not space-capable. To preserve their culture, they create a biological agent capable of transferring their knowledge to another being upon ingestion. Over the eons, this drop was frozen in what would become to be known as the Arctic. One day, the Earth would thaw again and the Artians would come back.
